Fundraisers

So my kids are coming home with all these dag on funraisers.  My kids are very competitive and love to participate at school.  Call me a poor sport, but I just don't believe in having kids selling things now-a-days. I'm sorry but I thought that is what PTO and fundraiser organizations where for.  Things just are not the way they used to be.  I don't feel comfortable having my kid going door to door begging or walking around the neighborhood with a envelope stuffed with cash.  Then when your kid raises about $500 all they get is a sling shot or a set of jacks.

I think the parents should be in charge of fundraising not the kids.

I agree, I had a young girl come to my house to deliver girl scout cookies. Not only was she hauling a large box around the neighborhood she had a fat wad of cash protruding from her pockets. I think its OK to let kids participate but not to that degree. My daughters friends set up a booth to have a "shoe drive." During lunch she sat at the booth and collected old shoes and cash for her charity. When all the boxes where full she used the cash to ship the shoes to Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and Guatemala. Now I'm with that kind of thing.

not all are bad...if the parent does the right thing the parent will be with the child...the parent would NOT allow a child to go door to door. set up a booth outside a store like albersons or walmart....its common sense..

i agree with Brandy...when its for a good cause i'm all for it...
