baby boys and hernias??

I have a question, since this is my first baby and I have very little experience with all things baby...my father in law recently got upset when he heard my son crying the other day for what he felt was a long time (they live above us), it was something like five minutes or less I think. he said that I shouldn't let him cry that long because baby boys can get hernias that way.Is this true? or wouldhe have to cry for like an hour? if this isn't quite true, is there a polite way of telling him that I'm not quite as anxious about my son as he is? he's always worrying about his and other family member's health. thanx

I have never heard that crying could cause hernia. Tell your father in-law that next check up you are going to ask your pediatrician.
