Important Decision

Hello, I am 27 weeks pregnant and due to layoffs and unexpected events, I haven't been to a doctor yet. I finally got squeezed in to my OBGYN's schedule, the one who delivered my first child, and the appointment is tomorrow morning. I told a friend of mine about this and she got her husband, a surgeon at a different hospital, to talk to one of his friends about seeing me and he wants to Friday morning. Here is the delimma. I have already delivered with my OBGYN, but moved since and she is now 30-40 miles away. I trust her and liked the hospital, but if I go into labor it will be 45 minutes away from my house. This other doctor is offerring to see me with no payment up front, but he is male and I have never been to the hospital he works at and it is about 15-20 minutes away. She really pulled some strings to get this appointment and to get it cheap for me, but I am having second thoughts about not seeing my normal doctor. Can anyone help with this?

My ob/gyn is male and 1 of the best in our area. He delivered my 1st child 25 years ago and our last 8 years ago. 45 minutes may not be much to some, but you have to ask yourself what has been your delivery habits w/ your other child(ren)? Ya, some will tell you all are different and they may be, but they may be the same. All of mine were very spontaneour deliveries and I wouldn't have made it if I had to travel 45 minutes. Look at it like this, you wouldn't have an option if you moved further away, you would have to change. I completely understand the comfort in staying w/ the same dr., but everything in life changes at some point. If your friend is someone you trust, I don't believe she would have you see someone she wouldn't trust. The desire you have to see your same ob/gyn is a comfort zone issue, i'm sure. Whatever you do you have to go w/ your heart, only you really know what is right for you. Maybe you need to sit down w/ a pen and paper and right down the pros and cons of both options then believe in your decision.
