Helpful Websites To Keep Families Healthy

I've been researching (to the point of obsession :)  to try and find answers to what exactly is safe for my family, seems there is a sliding scale for what the market deems safe.  This is a list of valuable resources & websites to learn more regarding these issues.  Would love to hear what others think!  Or if they have websites they would like to add here...and will update this often!  This is just a start of the many wonderful sites I've come across-

www.eves-best.com/babesafe-mattress-covers.htm Babesafe Mattress Covers- I've just ordered mine!  Small Investment ($30) to keep the flame retardants, toxic gasses, etc. and keep baby safe in crib!!  Read more at this website.  Very interesting topic!  A must read for all new parents!!!!  This site says even if you have an organic mattress you need this cover.  And better yet, you need not buy an organic mattress (these are SO EXPENSIVE) if you use this cover.  Read for yourself!

www.organicconsumers.org Tons of Great Info

www.safbaby.com Social Networking for Parents!  Great Resource, Friendly & Helpful

www.healthytoys.org Search database for chemicals found in your toy box & baby gear!  I was surprised to find the 2-in-1 Learning Kitchen on this list, we received for Christmas, guess what?  It went back!  I have since learned a ton about pthlatates and how they mimic estrogen in our babies and are responsible for hormone disruption.  This can affect reproduction and a number of other organs!  Many other countries have banned these!   Also has a search option for Best Toys (Safest)

www.jilliansdrawers.com Try Cloth Diapers for $10 (Great Store To Sample Cloth Diaper brands and keep 'em if you like 'em or send them back and it will only cost you $10)  Check them out...Cloth diapers have come a long way!!!!  They look just like disposables now but healthier for baby & planet and are so cute!!!!  And its really not as gross as you might think!  Trust me I'm using them & love them!  Want to more just ask me!

www.hundredyearlie.com Find out more about the products we have been lead to believe are safe and how they are affecting our lives and planet!

Hey Shauna,
I have been using eco-friendly and non-toxic household products and it has made a difference in my home. My kids have not been sick since I started using them, which was 2 years ago. I totally believe that what we are using in our homes makes a difference in the health of everyone. Great info on your post.
