Sleeping |
My daughter is 7 1/2mnths old and she is having problems sleeping. She wakes up 1-5 or 6 times at night. I think she is eating enough(3 foods and 5 nursings) a day. I give her cereal before bed, but was thinking of trying oatmeal or maybe someones suggestions. She will sometimes be wide awake, and most of the time she is crying out and moning in her sleep. I have tried teething tablets but I not convienced that they are helping. Any suggestions please... I was up for 3hrs last night and need some sleep. |

It could be a growth spurt or her teething. My daughter does the same I don't give her cereal but I nurse her at night to try and comfort her and she falls asleep. Sorry I am of no help do you feed her in the middle of the night? |

At 7 1/2 months, it sounds like she is eating enough. That doesn't seem to be the reason for the wakings. First, examine her daytime sleeping. Is she napping twice a day for 1-2 hours for each nap? If she is sleeping more than this, it will disrupt her nighttime sleeping. What time does she waken from her last nap? She shouldn't sleep later than 4pm in order for her to go to bed around 7-8:00pm. Did she used to sleep through the night? Or has she always gotten up several times each night? If you think her gums are hurting, put some Baby Orajel on them at night to see if that soothes her. Also examine your actions when she wakes at night. Do you immediately go to her when she awakens? Let her cry for a few minutes first to see if she will relax on her own and go back to sleep. Do you rock or nurse her each time she wakens? If so, do this for just a short period of time, put her back to bed and then leave the room. You want her to be able to go back to sleep on her own without your assistance. My son just turned 8 months old, is still breast fed and sleeps through the night. I did 3 weeks of sleep training with him at 12 weeks old because he had colic and never slept. Please let us know the progress. |
