My daughter won't eat!
My 20 month old daughter won't eat anything besides waffles, pizza, and yogurt!  OCCASIONALLY she'll eat carrots.  I really don't want to let her "go hungry and eventually come around".  Any other suggestions?  Recipe ideas?

Hi Amber! My name is Julie and I too have a very picky eater. My son Evan is now 3 and the only foods that I can get him to eat are chicken fingers, french fries, waffles, yogart, and pizza, ham and hotdogs! Occasionally he will eat roast beef, or steak. He will not eat any fruit or vegetables. The best advice I will give you is to make sure that you give your daughter a vitamin everyday to help out with the lack of nutrients. I personally feel that it is better to find something that they will eat rather than them eat nothing at all. This does cause some arguements between my husband and I because he feels that Evan will eat what we are having if he is hungry enough...I say pick and choose your battles, there is no negotiating with a toddler! Do the best that you can with this situation, she will try things when she is ready or when she sees other kids eating foods that are different from what she is used to. Good luck!

Clearly, you should head on over to alphamom.com and look at the column Wonderland by Alice Brady. Her son is 5-ish and eats nothing but cheese and yogurt.

As long as she's eating something and her weight isn't an issue, then I'd say let her eat what she'll eat. Offer new foods and if she doesn't take them, oh well. More than likely, this too shall pass. :)

I agree about vitamins. My children take vitamins daily. I would continue to broaden her horizons, you might have to broaden yours as well. Just keep introducing her to new foods. Keep feeding her the foods she eats. Give her plenty of milk & juice & water. My children are very curious about the foods I eat, they watch, then ask to try it. My 3yr old will not eat green vegetables & certain meats, so I give him other fruits & veggies & other meats he does eat. He went through a stage about potatoes too. Didn't matter how it was prepared, french fries, tater tots, hashbrowns, baked, fried, mashed. I think we had something to do with that. We made the mistake of buying a box of french fries from Sams Club, and I served them with everything, until they were gone : ) It took us a long time to finish them : ) God Bless.

My daughter now 17 years old didn't eat a lot of variety of food when she was younger even though many different items were offered. She still does not eat much now, honestly her diet is basically the same now as it was then...White rice, potatoes, plain speghetti, chicken nuggets, french fries, pizza and the nomal junk foods... She is a healthy teenager. I remember getting frustrated when she wouldnt eat but she's fine now so I guess my advice is.... As long as the kids eat and its not affecting thier health in any way and you give vitamins to help then I'm sure your babies will be A-OK.

I can get my 15 month old to eat all sorts of foods. The only problem is that it has to be the same stuff I'm eating. Basically I make up 2 plates with the same foods but cut hers up in small pieces.

can you "hide" other food in the foods she will eat?
like...
pizza...add pureed carrots to the sauce or pureed spinich (think of it like v8 juice) it really doesnt alter the taste much
i had to do that for my stepson when he was 3 for a while
with yogurt...add extra fruit and some wheat germ...doesnt alter the taste or texture (shell never know)
maybe she will eat waffles with peanut butter on them? or make her a waffle sandwich with turkey or something (use the waffles as bread)
