General sleep question |
My son is about 4 1/2 months old. He used to go to sleep for the night about 7-7:30 pm. Now it seems that he is ready to call it a night at about 6pm. Does anyone else find this too? Does this seem normal? |

What time does your son takes his afternoon nap? Because it sounds like he's taking it to early in the day. |

He naps in the morning around 8:30 and then in the afternoon there really isn't a time schedule for his naps. |

I would try having your son take his afternoon nap around 2p and then maybe he will stay up longer at might. |

do you want him to go to bed later?? if you do then a scheduled afternoon nap will def. help that. right now he is tuckering out early because he is skipping that afternoon nap...
my son is 6 now and would do that.. my daughter is 3 and now she skips naps and goes to bed early and get her nap by sleeping from 8 to 8 or 7 to 7 ... but about a week ago we were talking baout this im a mommy and me class I teach...
alot of the moms were saying they liked afternoon naps because then their children would go to bed a little later and wake up a little later but then there naps schedules changed during the day.. so it is really what is easier for you and your baby.... |

How much sleep is he requiring? What schedule do you want him to be on? You just have to make the adjustments it takes, so that both of you can be happy. Babies need routine, otherwise they can be cranky all the time, it seems. Just be consistent with the routine you start, until it needs adjustment. Life Changes, Babies Needs Change. You're the only one aware of the circumstances. God Bless. |

I know when my kids were small like that I would rather them go to sleep later, like 9ish because that would allow me a little more sleep before I would have to wake up with them. Whereas, if your son is going to sleep for the night at 6, he is probably waking up to eat right after you go to bed...(is that right?) I agree that if possible try to get him to take a later afternoon nap. I know when my kids were that small, it was easier to help them go to sleep when they may not really be that tired, than it is to keep them awake when they really want to sleep. So, if he takes an early afternoon nap, maybe you could rock him or hold him or put him in a swing to help him sleep longer, or to give him a later nap as well, so hopefully he will be rested up for the later part of the evening, and will stay awake until at least 8? |

my daughter is almost 6 months old and she started going to bed a lot earlier around 4 months. closer to 5:30. I have tried to get her on a nap schedule but nothing really seems to work as far as that goes. although the last few days she has taken better naps. she always sleeps in the morning and then there is one or two afternoon naps kinda short. So, unless u r concerned with teh wake up time in teh morning then ur fine.
although i tried doing the whole get her to nap later and put her to bed a little later. she still gets up around the same time each morning and only serves to make her cranky at the end of the day.
i am hoping once she takes better to solid foods that may change. |
