Potty Training

Hi,

I am trying to prepare myself for potty training of an 18 month old. What kind of diapers should I use and do I let him wear a normal diaper at night or is potty training all or nothing? Thanks.

I am not telling how to be a mom, but boys usually take a lot longer to potty train. I think you will be wasting your time. I have a two year old and I don't plan on potty training him until at least 2 1/2. But if you succeed, good job. Ask his ped. what you should do?

My son is 15 months old and trying to learn how to potty in his potty we bought him a couple of months ago. Just having it in the house has raised his curiosity about it. He is still in diapers, however he does go potty some days. Every time I go he goes. I'll say "come on honey, lets try to potty" and he will sit on the potty but he doesn't always potty. Sometimes he even sits on the potty with his diaper on and potties in his diaper but that shows me that he is getting the idea. It is difficult to make him understand so I do not try to do that. On our good days where he will potty all day in the potty he wears pull ups. I call them his big boy underwear and that seems to make him happy and more motivated to potty in the potty. You have to do what you think is best and works for you but if you introduce the potty into the home for your little one his curiosity just may take over and do most of the work for you. Hope this helps its only my experience and opinion.
