HELP! Teething and I don't know what to do |
My 4 month old son started teething right before the turned 4 months and it has now gotten bad to where he screams unless he can chew on my finger and now my fingers are so brused. He won't chew on a teething ring but he'll suck and chew on any fabric(bib, blanket, shirt, towel) but that only lasts a short while. I've bought the teething tablets and the gel stuff but that doesn't seem to work for too long. |

wet down one of the towels that he likes to chew on and then stick it in the freezer for a bit and the water will freeze and then he can chew on it and it will numb his gums in the mean time, dont let it compleatly freeze cause then it might hurt him. my daughter is 6 months now and got her first two teeth when she was 4 months and now you can see every tooth on the top and she is always pissed but finding the right teething toy is key they have ones that when they bite down it vibrates and i know a lot of babies that like that but something else that helped me when my daughter got her first two was--- i went to the store and got the tooth and gum cleaner stuff for babys (its from gerber) and the rubber cleaner thing goes over your finger tip and the little rubber brissels help a whole lot once i got that and massaged her gums with that she was a happy camper and because it was rubber it helped my fingers too. good luck |

thank you so much, I tried the cold and he doesn't like it, but I'm not stopping...I've tried as many chew toys as I can find and he just doesn't like any of them...my next thing to try is the tooth and gum cleaner...thanks again for the advice |

You need to find Hyland's teething tablets, small bottle little white pills. My daughter teethed at 5 months for about a year and 1/2. They work miracles and also help crankiness. Also, wet frozen washcloths help, and they have a net thing you can buy in the market and stuff with ice so he can chew on it. Good luck! |

I have the Hyland's teething tablets and they don't seem to do anything for him, they worked at first for like a day or so but they do nothing for him now...I think once he gets a little older he'll like cold stuff but right now he hates anything cold. But I'm gonna keep trying |

Well, if he dosen't like the cold the only other thing I can think of ( and it is a bit sticky) is to put a little bit of Kayro on the cloth or better the "chew toys" that he likes. if that still dosen't work i would suggest calling the doc bc there maybe something else going on there...good luck sister :) |

I give my daughter celery sticks, cold or warm it seems to help alot. She can hold it and chew on it which helps. Hope this works for you. |

Hi. Our son is 4 months old too and going through the same thing. A waitress at a local diner told me to buy blankets that are meant for freezing at any store. They have textured edges that may promote the teeth to come through. I will look for them for our baby. I also gave him the plastic keys on the ring and he loves to put the ring part in his mouth and play with the keys. He tries to put my finger in his mouth and even pushes his bottle nipple to the side of his mouth during feedings, I noticed. Let me know if you learn anything new. |
