I have an IUD and I have had it for about a year and I love it. I will give some advice. Please choose the mirena. It's a birth control that works for five years and for me a couple of months ago, my periods stopped and yes that is normal. Also my two best friends also use the mirena and they love it too. |

I had the copper kind, which has no hormons in it at all (unlike the mirena) and it's good for 10 years. I had mine in for 9 years, then got it removed because we wanted a baby. I had no problems with it at all. The only negative side of it is that I was bleeding a little more monthly, then without the IUD. It was very easy, I didn't have to remember to take any pills. And we never had any "accidents". It is expensive though and you will have cramps for the first few month. Better buy some strong painkillers. The only reason I would choose the copper one over the MIrena is because it contains no hormons. You have your regular periods every month. With Mirena you may bleed on and off, spotting may occure or you stop bleeding all together. But if you don't have your period, how will you know if you are not pregnant by accident? I would be worried all the time. Go with the copper one. Good luck. |

I have had my Mirena for almost 4 years now and it's great! The hormones are so low that it doesn't get into the breastmilk because I had mine "installed" right after the birth of my child. Well, maybe a few weeks after. The pill's hormones made me nuts but this has worked out fine. |

I did have an IUD for about a month....make sure you ask them how your uturs sits. I for instance, I have a tilted uturs (which is pretty common). IUD's do not stay in well in that case. So, I paid the $800 dollars to have protection for 1 month. |

I have had my tubes tied. And I can tell you it has been the best thing for me. I don't have any hormones messing me up and there are not pills to remember or shots to go get every three months. I hated the shots, I was Queen Bi---, while doing that. Best of allI feel I feel more free to be with my husband without any worries. He loves it too, since I am more intrested. If you know for sure you do not want any more children it is a great option. If you want more than the others are best. |

I also have the Mirena and I love it!
Had a little bit of breakthru bleeding during the first two weeks but that was about it. I totally stopped getting a period and I love it! I've had it in for about 4 years now and I will definitely have another put in when my time is up on this one. |

Wow it's so nice to hear good things about the mirena, when I was debating between mirena and the nuvaring I couldnt seem to find a single person who didn't complain about it, I wish I would of found this post before I chose the nuvaring. |

I plan on getting the Mirena in a few more weeks. Has anyone gotten one, had it removed after 2 years or so to have another baby? Did it work? |
