weaning from the bottle

My daughter just turned one and I would like to wean her from the bottle. She drinks water from her sippy without a problem but the instant she realizes there is milk in it she throws it and loudly tells me in her best baby gibberish that milk only comes from a bottle.  She's a strong willed little cookie. I would cut it all together but at her one year check up the doctor told me to make sure that she is getting 16-20oz of milk a day. I had done this prior to her check up and when it is out of sight she doesn't seem to want for it. I would love some creative ideas. Thanks

Hello Sarah, I am a mom of 6 kids (3 boys 3 girls). I had my children give up the bottle cold turkey on their first b-day and never had a problem with it. Until...My darling Skyler came upon her first b-day. I knew she wouldn't give it up so easily and she was exactly like your daughter (throwing when she realized it was just milk. So, i put a little bit of the nesquick strawberry mix to give it a little flavor, she drinks it up. what I also did was hand her the cup if she doesn't take it or throws a fit I would set it down on the floor beside her. she'll take it when she's thirsty. Make the cup her only option. I hope any of this helps. Good luck
