"SuperSize Me" McDonalds Documentary |
After the conversation several of us had last week I decided to rent the documentary on fast food and the effects it has on the body. It's called "SuperSize Me", I was totally freaked out. I take my kids out maybe twice a month. Not anymore, it was just unbelievable. Everyone knows it's better to prepare food at home to make sure our kids are eating as healthy as possible but I don't think anyone realizes how dangerous the occasional treat of fast food can be. This man gained 30+ pds in 30 days and is liver almost shut down. He eat McD's every meal, everyday for 30 days. He didn't eat anything that wasn't on the menu and he had to try everything on the menu as least once. He became depressed, lost interest in sex - you name it, the side effects were alarming. |

I watched that movie as well. I was disgusted by it, but I also personally didn't stop eating fast food. I do not go out every day, or even every week, but I still eat it and I am just fine. He was looking at the worst case scenario. When I do go out I try and make healthier choices and I really like that the fast food chains have the healthier choice options instead of fries. As I said I don't go out all of the time, but there are those nights when things were hectic through the day and you just don't want to cook. The one thing that really disgusted me about that movie is the food service that was at my college was in that movie as one of the worst! I was completely disgusted by that and tried to eat food in my dorm as much as possible(it also encouraged me to look for an apartment quicker!) Needless to say, the food provider for the college changed the next year, though they weren't much better. |
