clogged milk duct

I have been suffering with what I think is a clogged milk duct for nealy 3 days now. I have tried soaking in a warm tub, hot showers, massage and still my breast is tender and sore with a large hard mass on the upper part of it, which continues to become larger as the milk won't let down.

I am sure I am not the only women who has suffered with this condition, so please please send me some advice!!! This is my third child (that I've nursed) and I have never had this happen before...

I had a terrible time with that when my son was born. I would go to the doctor right away, because sometimes it is an infection that clogs it. After I was on antibiotics for a couple of days, it cleared up. Hope this helps.

I had that problem when my son was about 3 weeks old and I also tried soaking in a warm tub but his ped. told me that soaking your breasts in warm water could only make the problem worse. Try using cool water instead and see if that works. Eventually I had no choice but to stop nursing my son at 1 1/2 months because my son got thrush and gave it to me and it the pain was so painfully that I would cry so bad that it hurt.
