such a thing as to much Tylenol

Caroline, who just turned one Nov 8, was cursed with a cold after her birthday that would not go away, and turned into croup. Running fevers of 103, etc, now that all symptoms are gone, she was diagnosed with double ear infections about 2 weeks ago.  Needless to say we have been alt IB profin and Tylenol.  I rotate between a full dose and a half dose depending on how much it seems to be bothering her, and usually only at nap time and for bed once the day is done.

So my question is this.  Will/Can she build up an immune to it?

If so, after how long?

Do I then increase the dosage?

Should I just stop giving it to her now, and let it bother her?

Any and all insight will be helpfull, welcomed and needed.

Thanks

Cara & Caroline

I am always careful about using any of these and give them as needed. If my daughter seems really fussy then I will use it. From all that I have read the symptoms of an overdose are the same as a child being sick. I am not sure if they can become immune to them but they can cause stomach upset and liver problems with prolonged usage. Most Dr's say that would take forever, but I have had my own problems taking them too often. Try a warm compress on her ear and neck and see if that will help relieve the pain and pressure.

Thanks, I'll have to try the compress. The trick of course will be getting Caroline to sit still long enough for it to work :)

I usually try to read a book or two to get my daughter to sit still for it. Sometimes it works but not always. I hope she is feeling better soon.

It can hurt your childrens liver after a prolonged use of it.I know this to be true because my son had re-occuring tooth problems and we had to wait for 1 month for him to get surgery and they told me I was lucky that it didnt damage his kidneys and liver.I was using tylenol, motrin and advil for children off and on for that whole month. It was the most awful thing that he and I had ever been through.
