fits of rage
my 7 year old son gose into fits of rage when he doesn't get his way. he yells, hits, kicks, and spits at me. i have tried to calmly talk to him, spank, and take things away it only makes things worse.  he is even doing this towards other grown ups now. we have never alllowed him to get his way by acting like this. he is usualy a very sweet kid it's just when he can't get his way that he starts to go sour. i am three months pregnate and am afraid that he might hurt the baby. any advise you can give would be greatly apreciated.

Maybe the fact you are pregnant has something to do with it. He feels soon your attention is going to be on the baby and he is afraid to loose his place. Reassure him by telling him about how life is going to be with the baby, that he will be the older brother so he will need to take on this very important role etc. Maybe he will help release his anxiety!

Actually he is very excited about me being pregnant and has been saying he wants a brother or sister for the longest. I should have mentioned that these fits have been turning aggressive for the past couple of years. he has a dominating personality and I am the opposite. thank you for your advice. If you think of any thing else that might be causing this and what I can do to put an end to it let me know. Also would any one know how hard some one would need to kick you in the stomach to harm the baby? I was kicked by my son just above the pelvic bone last night. It didn’t hurt and I didn’t bleed after wards. I don’t have an ob yet so I have no way of knowing if the baby is ok.
