unpopular choices
My baby is just a newborn but I used to work with autistic kids. One of the strategies I learned was to offer choices with unpopular choices so they could still have some control but within my own control. Example: unpopular choice-clean your room, their choises-you can clean your room now or you can clean your room in an hour. This also helped hold themselves accountable. As part of the decision making the responsibility was then shifted on them.
