The dr's usually say to wait until one year for eggs because of alleriges. Peanut butter shouldn't be given until after two for the same reason. You may want to check with your ped just to be sure. If she hasn't had a reaction she should be just fine. :-)

seh has alreadyhad peanut butter too. not alot but when i give her pieces of my toast there will be alittle on it. she had that at like 7 months. i htnk all the allergies are blown out of porportion on some things. seh has been fine allday so far afterhaving hte eggs. there are too many restrictions it seems. they cnat have more than they can have. i think she is fine. i jsut didnt know why she couldnt have them. thanks jackie

Our son's dr. said egg yolks are fine, just to avoid the egg whites because of the higher risk of allergies. Peanut butter was also one he suggested we avoid for a while not only because of the allergy, but also if they have a "regular" bite of it they can choke because it's sticky. Honey can cause botulism (SP?) in kids under 2 because their bodies don't understand how to digest it. I do agree with you some on the allergy issues. Our parents and grandparents did all these things that are no nos now, but we turned out okay. But there's a lot more medical research now. You just have to do what you think is right for your family.

I was told that my son shouldn't have the following foods until he was 2 years old not only for allergy reasons but for digestion reasons as well.
Nuts, shellfish, & honey
