My daughter Jeslyn was born in March in Las Vegas. We left in April to escape her abusive father and came back to live with my parents in New Jersey which is where I am from. I am now being ordered to go back to Las Vegas with my daughter untill custody and visitation is established and I would then have to file for relocation and go through another hearing for that. This could take months or years if even granted at all. In the mean time I am due back in Las Vegas by Nov. 7, 2007 and have no income, no place to live, and no way to support my daughter. I was told if I go to a women's shelter my ex can claim that I am incapable of caring for our child and is more likely to get custody of her. Does anyone know of any organizations that may be able to help?
I don't know anyone in Las Vegas but I would imagine if you call a couple of women shelters or women organization they should be able to give you the right information.
Is the judge in Las Vegas aware of your financial situation? Do you have a lawyer that can ask for some form of postponement? It seems so logical that you and your daughter are better off in NJ at your parents than in a shelter in Las Vegas!
It seems logical, but somehow isn't to the courts. Her father is claiming i whisked her away in the middle of the night with no reasoning. My lawyer asked for a postponement or stay of execution but the judge in nv said i shouldnt have left in the first place and denied the requests. She also says that my financial situation is an inconvenience and the court would not judge on inconvenience. I've tried some womens organizations out there but they all have long wait lists for housing, but ill keep trying! thanks for ur ideas
