Insomnia
I need help. I couldn't wait for my son (16 months) to sleep all night. Now he does and I can't. I haven't been able to sleep for about 2 years. I don't want to take drugs. Any suggestions???

I feel your pain! I had a colicky baby (13 years old now) and didnt sleep for 2 years. Tried taking over the counter medications and didnt have any success. My saving grace was a low dose anti anxiety pill called effexor and it saved my life I believe. Insomnia can be dangerous, I had a seizure due to no sleep. I got to the point that I had to do something. Dont rule out medications, it could be the only way.

Good Luck to you! Tracy

Either find a natural remedy or find a very boring and heavy book! It might help...

The only thing that I have found to help me get some sleep, or at least 4 hours of it, is Simply Sleep. It's an OTC made by Tylenol. I have had problems sleeping for about six years now. Simply Sleep helps me fall asleep and stay asleep longer than anything else I have tried. The great thing is is that I am not groggy in the morning like I have been taking other medicines, prescription or OTC.

How about good ol fashioned remedies, brisk walk that turns into an all out sprint, full tummy, and hot bath with a class of wine? I swear it works everytime. Do you think your worrying about what your son is doing? I mean the normal, I hope he's breathing right now parental thoughts? What's going through your mind as you lay down and try to go to sleep?
I feel for you, I too had a collicky child, I was delirious. I still can't sleep a full night (unless I've taken some nyquil for a cold I don't have). Sometimes all you need in life is a good nights sleep, I swear by it.

Thank you for all the suggestions! I'll start trying them and hope for the best. If you think of anything else please let me know.
