My son isn't eating

Hi-

My son- who just turned 2 in Sept, has decided to stop eating for my husband and I.  This kid was always a great eater but since I have become a stay at home Mom he eating habits have become awful.

At first I thought, OK it's all the changes going on, so I bought more kinds of foods and tried differnt things.  Nothing is working.  He's not really lost any weight, he's grown in height though. And the only teeth that should be popping out don't look like they have come yet (they would be his upper 2 y/o molars).

I have noticed he drinks more regular milk and soy milk in the mornings.  More than what I used to package for him with his sitter when I worked.  So maybe he's just filling up on that.

I'm kinda worried, but when I mention this to people I get- "Kids go through changes, they will let you know when they are hungry". That's fine but it worries me that he's not getting the nutrients he needs.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks-Renata

Hi Renata,

sometimes kids use food as a power struggle with the parents!

Try to re-establish the same routine he had with his sitter, don't give him extra milk and see how it goes. Cook his favorite food, let him eat in front of TV so he is not concentrating on the food.

I hope it helps,

Vero

my niece went through that about the same age, her mom let her cook with her. under supervision. let him stur the noodles or whatever. so he feels like a big boy.
