Sounds like she could have ODD(which means oppositional defiant disorder) Have your sister keep a notebook of the little girls behavior. As soon as she gets up from the corner and gets in trouble put her back in. Since you are pregnant you dont need added stress. Talk to your sister about her behavior and hope your 2yr old dont pick the behavior up. |

"The Happiest Toddler on the Block" is a book by Harvey Karp, M.D. I don't know if you're much of a reader, but this book has helped me make sense of my daughter's behavior (good, bad, ugly, or otherwise). Now, I do not have the trouble you or your sister are dealing with, but the byline of this book is "The New Way to Stop the Daily Battle of Wills and Raise a Secure and Well-Behaved One-to-Four-Year-Old." This book has been a life-saver for my husband and me. He's a military-style disciplinarian and I have the patience of a saint. This book has helped us to meet in the middle, take the attention-getting "bad" behavior almost completely out of the picture, and create a much more healthy (and happy) environment for us all. Maybe it will help you, too? Whatever you do, you have to do something! Good luck. (P.S. My hubby is headed to Iraq in 2.5 weeks. I can only begin to feel your pain. jamiemarks@yahoo.com) |
