Anyone ever hear of this?

A married couple (friends of my husband) told him that they always gave a teaspoon (or tablespoon -- I forget) of Carnation Instant Breakfast in their babies' bottles before bedtime.  This, they allege, guaranteed that their kids slept through the night.

Anyone ever hear of this?  Curious.

It would depend on how old your kid(s) are. One of my cousin's grandmother (a long story), but his grandmother gave him kashi cereal and a couple of days later, it gave him massive dirrhea so before you give him everything please check with their doctor.

My doctor told me that all the tales about putting cereal in their bottles at night (or formula if you breastfeed) has nothing to do w/ sleeping through the night-- I think that is genetics.

Either way, Carnation Instant Breakfast has lots of not so great stuff in it (even just for adults) and a nice dosage of sugar, so I would say not to give any baby something that has so many products in it.

never heard of doing the instant breakfast stuff but Rochelle is right not good for adults even so if anything do a little cereal mixed withformula and make sure the nipple can handle it as well as keeping baby upright and taking breaks so a four ounce bottle you could do 3 teaspoons of rice desolved in it

one thing too consider if the baby is newborn and waking every 2 to 4 hours than this his the right schedule for them to be on right now

I have always been told and when I worked at children's we also told parents never to put anything other then formula or breastmilk into your childs bottle unless the Dr. has told you to do it. It can cause a choking hazzard and some items like the insant breakfast have stuff in them that babies should not have, like the poster above said.
