frightened to go to school!

My 3 years old nephew went to PK3 school for 2 day and he has had nightmare and scared to dead to go back to school.  He has cried and hid himself in the room when he saw students.  What can I do to help him to go back to school?

Thank You,

 Rose Nguyen

It could be helpful to role play with him. Take turns, letting him be the teacher so you can get an idea of how he views the school experience. You could also talk with his teacher and ask her to help him meet the other kids. Help him form a bond with the teacher so he has an adult he trusts that he can go to. Let him bring a security object, even if it is something small he can put in his pocket, something to remind him of the people who love him. Most often when children cry when being dropped off at preschool, they adjust and are fine in a short amount of time after their parent leaves. Check in with his teacher regularly and make sure he is making progress. If he is not, schedule a meeting with her to discuss things you can both do to help him adjust.
