The most frightening thing that ever happened to my son.
It was raining really hard one night and my son was standing up on his bed looking out the window, at that same moment a flash of lighting hit close to the window. He started to scream. Now when ever it rains he has to be by me or he will cry.

I will never forget the day my son(now 6yr) cut his finger clean off.
It was June of 2005 and my 3 boys were playing outside when I glanced out back and found that my (then 8yr now 11yr)oldest son was spinning the tires of an upside-down bicycle. Before I had a chance to get out the door, my 3yr(now 6) went right for the now screaming front tire and his finger came off. I had only been through a head bleed before this but this was scarey even for a wife of a medic and daughter of a nurse. We quickly grabbed 3 to 4 towels and wrapped it around the rest of his finger(cut off down to the nail-bed) and headed for the clinic.
At thi point, I was in the backseat trying to comfort my youngest and trying to console my oldest (considering his sweet little 5yr middle brother was telling him it was all his fault).
We arrived at the Clinic who in turn had us drive an hour away to a hospital (which I'm glad we did now)that specialized in these surgeries.
I will never forget how long that hour was as my husband kept driving and I watch my brave little 3yr old want to see his finger. I of course, objected to the idea of him seeing what happened.
My husband and I breathed a breath of relief once we pulled into the front of the hospital..All was going to be fine..
To this day, you can barely tell it was cut clean off because of the great work of the surgeon(props to all the medical professionals out there).
My oldest now knows not to turn over bikes and spin the tires.
Lesson Learned...Becky
