The journey I have traveled to become the person I am now has been what seems like an eternity at times. While at other times, it seems like a blink of an eye. For better or for worse, I can honestly say there are two main people while I was growing up that made me the adult I am today. If you have known me for any length of time, the first person as you probably will know was my grandmother. She taught me that there are still good people out in this cold, cruel world. She taught me to not to judge others, b/c it's not my place to. It's God's place to, & nobody else. She taught me how to be strong for those you love even when you don't feel very strong yourself. Most of all, she taught me when the walls around you are falling down to fall down on your knees yourself, look up to God, and pray. The second person that helped me become the adult I am today is my father. He taught me that family always come first no matter what. He taught me to know when to speak up, and when to just simply listen. Most of all, he taught me to be a strong woman, & not to take any crap from any man. ;-) Without the last lesson, I don't think I would have the husband I have today. :-) Now, for the people that have made me the person I am today would be my husband, and my boys. My husband, Paul, is my best friend, he is my complete opposite, which at times can be trying, but also rewarding. He always there during my best times, and always there to hold me during my worst times. My boys,(Michael, Jerrett, & Isaac) have taught me that there is something more important than myself. They have taught me that there is a future, and through them I have a chance to make a world a better place. Finally, they have taught me that I can do anything if I have to b/c THEY depend on me. Without them, I think there are many things I have accomplished that I would not have if it wasn't for them depending on me. So, what about you? Who has made you the person you are today & why? |
