TOY RECALL PETITION

LETS PROTECT OUR KIDS FROM UNSAFE TOYS.....

Yesterday Mattel recalled 9 million more toys from the US market due to safety concerns. This time, some of the toys again had banned lead paint but others had small powerful magnets.1 The toys recalled include Polly Pocket sets and a Barbie with a magnetic pooper scooper.2

These potentially fatal toys should never have reached our homes! Unfortunately the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which is responsible for protecting the public from dangerous consumer products, lacks the leadership, the money, the staff and the legal authority it needs to protect us from either dangerous imported or dangerous domestically-produced products.

Urge the Bush Administration to protect our children from dangerous toys by giving the CPSC the resources it needs to operate efficiently. To take action click here:

[1] Lead paint is especially dangerous to children under age six and can cause nervous system damage, hearing loss, stunted growth, reduced IQ, delayed development and kidney damage. The powerful magnets in some of the recalled toys can come loose and if swallowed can attract inside the body and cause intestinal perforation, infection or blockage -- which can be fatal.

[2] Other toys that were recalled include toy cars from the movie "Cars", Batman figurines and Doggy Day Care Magnetic toys.

It is good to know that I'm not the only one completely outraged with these toy manufacturers. They need to be held accountable. It is inexcusable and unacceptable.
