Solutions to Cradle Cap?

Anyone have any suggestions on how to minimize my son's cradle cap?  Anytime I change him it starts flaking up on his head.  Thanks!

Hi Tonya,
Try using a baby hair brush while washing his hair. My sister did this with her boys. She would soap up thier heads and gently use the brush in a circle motion. I have also heard of people using olive oil or baby oil. My daughter had it too, but not too bad.

Hi Tonya,

When my children were babies, we had this issue also. The cure that worked best for us was to gently rub some baby oil on the head where the flaking is. Wait about 10 minutes for the oil to penatrate the flakes (so that the oil can soften the flakes) and then use the baby comb to comb it out. Then wash the hair and it is gone (at least for a few days).
Good Luck

we would wash her hair and hten when the soap was still in it we used the baby brush. it works like a charm. in a day or two it would be gone. oil sounds messy.

my daughter had it, we bought this cradle cap shampoo at the store for babies and i washed her hair with it, but before i rinsed, i used the baby comb and i would just brush out the flakes from her scalp and then i would rinse it. the doctor told me to dilute a little selsun blue with water and wash her hair with it, but i wouldnt do that if i were you, but i did it. then rinse thoroughly and dry her hair good. then while she was relaxing i would still use the comb throughout the day and keep combing out the flakes and i would use the shampoo every other day (the cradle cap shampoo). it was gone in a week and never came back.

Thank you everyone for all the great suggestions! I started off with what seemed to be then most simple suggestion and it worked beautifully! I just put some olive oil on his head (I didn't even leave it in over night- just 15 min) and then I gave him a bath and washed the olive oil out with baby shampoo. I did this twice and it's all gone!!! Thanks Again! All the suggestinos were so helpful!
