Introducing table foods |
I have a 9 month old son and am starting to introduce table foods into his feeding schedule. Any suggestions on what table foods to start with, etc.? He has been eating three meals a day with cereal and nursing for breakfast, stage 3 foods and nursing for lunch, stage 3 foods and nursing for dinner, and then nursing before bedtime. Any suggestions on what and when for table foods? Thanks! |

Add new foods slowly. Applesauce, fresh mashed banana or small pieces not mashed, cheerios, cooked veggies such as carrots, peas, green beans. Finger foods are good because he should be starting to pick things up and be trying to feed himself.
My son has been eating most of the same foods my husband and I eat since he was about 9 months old, other than things containing honey, peanuts or peanut butter and really spicey foods. As long as it's soft enough for him to gum it, and small enough he won't choke. |

I agree with the post above, but we have given our 10 month old peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (small bite size pieces). He seems to like it. He loves yogurt, cream of wheat. He'll sometimes have the quaker instant oatmeal, or toast with butter. He likes mashed potatoes. You can buy the store made brand which are good. He's tried pizza, and spaghetti. Good luck.
