Some kids never crawl...some are a little lazy
You can encourage him by putting a toy or something he will want to reach.

I used to be very concern with my son when he was almost 8 months old since he wasnt crawling yet nor teething. I used to put his favorite toy in front of him to encourage him and I also used to crawl next to him hoping he'll try to copy me but nothing really worked, he was so lazy. You just need to give him some time sometimes we get worry if our kids are not doing what they are suppose to do according to their milestones but my son once he turned 9 months, forget it !!! It was like he suddenly woke up!!! everything together, he started teething, crawling , standing up, and now he just turned 10 months and have 4 teeth, he crawls like a pro, he is almost walking and he is everywhere, I cant believe how active he is now , Im even loosing weight. So dont worry about it just give him a little bit more of time. |

Thanks you two, I appreciate the reply. I do put his favorite toy infront of him and I also crawl all around him hoping he will copy me. He isn't acting lazy though, He trys and he ooches on his tummy and trys to push with his feet, but he just hasn't figured out how to add his hands into the mix. I'm sure he'll get it, he's only 6 months. I guess i have time. Thanks again. |

Yes, Andrea, give it time. My son tried for a long, long time. He finally started creeping a few weeks ago. He will be 10 months next week and he still doesn't crawl, but he creeps so fast that he gets where he wants to go.
All babies develop differently, so try not to worry if he doesn't hit a certain milestone when the books say he should- he'll get there. I know it is hard when you see him trying so hard, you want to help him succeed, but he will do it when he is ready. Give him lots of opportunities to try and then one day when you least expect it he will take off. |

You are not alone, Emilie just started to crawl last month. Now she goes to the nearest piece of furniture and stands up. I used to put a sheet on the floor, I don't think she liked the feel of the carpet it seemed to help. Your little guy will get there, don't worry. |

My son is also 6 1/2 months and is trying to crawl. He can turn like a pro but when he tries to move forward, he actually goes backward. I read this is the beginning process of them learning to crawl. He does try very hard and I praise him every time by clapping and cheering. This makes him try even harder. Don't worry too much about it. |

my little one, Keara, is almost 9 months old, she has been walking(supported) since she was 7 months, and has been trying to figure out the crawling thing, but she would rather walk. She has gotten the moving the back legs part down, but she won't move her arms forward. |

Hi Andrea,
I guess just give her the most opportunity possible to do it...keeping her out of the bouncer, car seat, and whatever other contraption you might have to entertain her. I noticed my son took off, once I stopped using these things so much.

Thanks everyone.. I figured out he isn't interested in crawling much, he'd rather just walk. He is holding himself up on stuff and trying to walk. He don't seem to even want to crawl, but I keep putting him on his stomach anyway, just to keep trying. Thanks again for the comments.. |
