I've found a couple of books that I just had to share with everyone. If anyone else has any recommendations, I'd love to hear them. - Bright Starts Teether Books - I love these! They are fabric books that you can find at Target in the baby section. They are simple books that have a hard spine, hard page tabs, fabric pages that crinkle and the middle page (there are only three pages to each book) has a squeak toy in it that my son absolutely adores. He can gnaw on this thing and squeeze it and even if he hits himself with it, I know it's not going to hurt him. It's the perfect book/toy!
- Usborne Touchy-Feely Board Books - my son and I were in Borders books and found "This is Not My Kitty" and he just went absolutely nuts. Every page has something different he can touch and feel, plus the story is really simple. There is a lot of repetition so he'll be able to pick up a lot of the words once he starts to read. http://tinyurl.com/32djrq
- Shiver Me Letters: A Pirate's ABC by June Sobel - I love the fact that this book shows how the alphabet is in our every day lives. I can read this book to my son and then take him outside and have him point out different letters he sees. Of course, I'll have to wait until he's older, but it gives me something to look forward to.
- 20 Hungry Piggies by Trudy Harris - We heard this story at our Library's story hour and truly enjoyed it. It's a spin on the classic "this little piggie" and cross-breeds it with the three little pigs.
- Playtime Rhymes for Little People by Mary Finch & Clare Beaton - Not only does this book give you a bunch of playtime rhymes, but it also gives you all the motions to do with your child on the same page. Being a single mother, I've completely forgotten all of the fun rhymes that I enjoyed as a child and this was a huge help in remembering them as well as finding some new ones.
