HAS ANYONE SUFFERED FROM SEVERE POST PARTUM DEPRESSION?
my son is 5 months old and although i have been extremely tired and lonely in the last few months this last month has been hell emotionally. i am severely depressed even though i do not work i am completely turned off by my sons father even though he is extremely generous to me. we are not married and i wondr what happens with our son if we atre to break up. the father provides me with everything but i am still sad and lonely and do not find him attractive. i feel like crying all the time. my friends sent me Celexa for depression and i'm wondering has anyone tried this? any problems from it?

I also suffered sever PPD when my son was two months. If you do not get it treated, it will get much worse. I do not recommend taking an antidepressant without talking to your doctor. You don't know what doses are right for you.

I was given Celexa but had better results with Zoloft. Your doctor will be your best bet to determine the right medication for you. In addition to medication, I also needed therapy because I always felt guilty and thought that I would never be a good enough of a mother for my son and thought my son and husband would be better off without me. In addition, I was petrified to be left alone with him. Someone had to be with me all the time not because they were afraid that I would hurt him. I couldn't understand why I was afraid of my own son. I was desperately wanting to run away or disappear.

All your feelings toward your boyfriend may be related to the PPD. I wouldn't recommend taking any action until you get some help. Also, please do not take Celexa without talking with your doctor.

It is amazing how much different I am feeling now and how far I came along, so it will get better as long as you get some help. On a positive side is that you have recognized that there is something wrong and want to do get it resolved.

If you need to talk further, I can tell you more in details about my PPD experience privately, so you can send me a message.

had the exact same problem. do not take celexa, it will make you extremely fat and eat all day long. i had to get off it and now i take zoloft and feel much better. it took me until she was four months old to get it all together. but in the beginning i had to be hospitalized cause i couldnt breathe, i was so overwhelmed and lonely. had no family or friends, so tired and bored. it was horrible. it does get better.
