A day
So, I'm usually on the Internet for anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours at least three times a day. Right? Yesterday due to dr.s appt., nap, dinner out, and being tired, I was only on twice for a TOTAL of about an hour. Not only that but I went WAY over my calories yesterday - like at least twice as many as I should've had! After Rachel's dr.s appt we went to Sonic, and then went to Mazzio's for dinner! Instead of restricting myself to a reasonable amount of anything I pigged out because I'm PMSing, was very tired, and slightly stressed. Why am I slightly stressed? Well, first, I'm not majorly stressed because it's nothing I can't deal with. Secondly, I was stressed at all because I had to go to the dr. (for over a week Rachel's had up & down fever, cough, sore throat, and nausea) and hear how kids need to go to church every week, and about Middle East politics, and be treated like I knew nothing about the medical condition of asthma. Yes, asthma. My 11yo daughter has suddenly developed asthma. Both her brothers have had it - one outgrew it, the other still struggles with it a little. But the little girl NEVER had it. My mom (RN and former asthma nurse-educator) said Rachel may only have problems with it when she has pulmonary infections, like walking pneumonia. Yes, walking pneumonia. I'd thought of it several times over the last week of her being sick. That's a heck of a thing to have to have in addition to strep. Yes, strep. I thought she's be sicker if she had strep, but apparently that isn't always the case! So the dr. prescribed a rescue-inhaler (albuterol) for the asthma, zithromax for strep & pneumonia, prednisone for asthma, and Singulair for asthma -- and topical eryhtromycin and a retin-A preparation for her acne. Yes, acne. The little darling inherited MY skin, which means very oily and susceptible to fairly bad acne. The good part of this means she'll age less quickly (if she'll stay out of the sun!); think natural moisturizers. So with those 6 prescriptions, an inhaler spacer, and a peak flow meter for her asthma we headed home. But had to stop at Wal-Mart briefly to get some Mucinex (for the pneumonia). Then I tried to stuff everything in the pharmacy bag, tore it open and had to transfer the whole kit-n-caboodle into a Wal-Mart sack. I immediately got overwhelmed by the amount of stuff to do and keep track of, but I managed to get her first doses together and not bite her head off while she whined her way through them. Apparently the prednisone pills are really nasty! And, of course, she has to take three per dose of those! She has two medicines that are once a day (one in evening only), at least one that is three times a day, and the rest (except the inhaler) are twice a day. I decided I'd just break it up into three times per day for medication (except the inahaler), and go through all of it each time to make sure I don't miss a dose or overdose. I'm having to write it all down. AND THE FRUSTRATION SETS IN: I didn't used to have to write it all down! I used to remember multiple medication schedules, even ifferent doses for different kids, on different schedules! Now I can barely manage my own medications, much less someone else's! It's 6:32am and relating all that has made me about tired enough to go back to bed! But I won't. I've got to get through all the emails I didn't look at yesterday!
