My experince at the doctors today, What do you think?? |
Ok, today I was feeling alot of pressure it felt like I ws walking
with a basketball held between my legs, and mild contractions that
were turning into to stronger ones 10 mins apart.
So I called the doctors, he said to come in to the office to be
checked.
Well My experince was not so comfortable.
I have been feeling a little like maybe my water might be leaking a
little. So he decided to do this test with a long cue tip if it turns
blue then yes if green no.
He inserted a speculim , By the way I have never heard of any doctor
inserting a speculim this far in your pregnancy term.( ALSO, he has
done this test before and never used a speculim) When he went to
insert it he asked me to cough , I coughed once and it felt like he
was hitting something, then he asked me again, It was so painful. He
did the swab and it was green.
then he went to check me after wards, Now the last couple of times I
have been checked it was by the nurses at the hospital or the nurse
practioner at the office, they usally did this cuping type of thing
to go around the babys head. INSTEAD , It felt like he shoved his
fist in and out just like that , I mean it was quick, real quick! and
said your 2cms. and very thin.
I screamed it hurt so bad. By this time I am now in beyond pain it
felt like fingernails have just been scrathed inside of me.
I got home around 6 pm, I no longer feel any pressure from her head
down there like it has been for the last couple of weeks. I now have
constant back ache , But no pressure at all. No more contractions at
all. This is odd because I usally have the constant pressure of her
head down. It was almost like the things he did lifted her back up.
Is that possible??
Does anyone feel this is common in a doctor to check you like this or
to do any routine checking like this??
I am nervous if he may of hurt the baby with the way he was.
What do you guys think?

Chrissy,
I can not be sure exactly what happened to you at the Dr's was normal, but I had an experience during my labor that sounds somewhat the same. I was having potocin contractions and no epidural, the nurses kept asking if I wanted one, so when I decided to go ahead with it the Dr. at the time said she needed to check me. When she did it was awful...now the checks throughout the last few weeks had hurt alot (brought tears to my eyes kind of hurt) but this was so much worse. I too cried out...my husband was all upset. It turns out that she did what you call "strip my membranes" I guess it seperates the cervix from the wall or something. It is supposed to release your own hormone that starts or helps with contractions. So, if that is what he did to you, it would explain the pain. But not feeling the head anymore, not sure because I never did. My advice to you if you are in any sort of pain or discomfort is to call again and ask to speak to someone that you trust, explain EXACTLY what he did and see if that is supposed to be normal. Is this your first baby? when is your due date?
Hope this helps a little...

Kristi,
This is my 4th baby , My due date was May 30 th according to my cycle, but to the sonogram they say it is July 1st. When they did that membranes thing, did they use a tool or anything like the speculim?
thanks |

but if that is what he did he never said anything to me about doing it at all.
I have felt her move alot today , this morining after I ate and then again about 30 mins ago. I have no more pressure at all still, like her head down pressure, just sore alot down in there. My back still hurts, alot.
Another werid thing is last week on tuesday, I was a finger tip, I had high Blood pressure 167/129 they watched in the labor and delivery from 10am till 6pm , I was contracting but not regular, BP went down no problems, On that wednesday I was complaining of no BM's it was like 4 to 5 days and nothing, I was thinking maybe this why I am having such bad back pain, So the midwife or Nurse practioner instructed me to take some milk of magnesia , I did and by thursady morning I was much better , and when I went into the doctors that day , I was 1 1/2 cm. and very thin, The did the no stress test, everything looked good. So they considered me not high risk anymore because I made it past 36 weeks. Since that Thursday at the doctors my BM's started acting the same , but after yesterday at the doctors office and what ever he did , I came home and it felt like I was in the bathroom every 2 hours with a BM. So it is werid I think somehow or another he pushed her back up??

No they did not use anything but their fingers thank god since that hurt so bad. It does sound weird to be putting anything like that in at this late date...The Dr that did it to me as well never said anything...should have warned me or something. Crazy...I would just keep contacting people if you don't feel right especially if you don't have alot of movement. The BM's thing was a constant with me...either that way or the other. Sometimes you have to insist on speaking to a Dr. Not to put down a midwife or nurse...but when I really need advice I ask for my Dr. Good Luck!

Ok, I don't why I didn't think of this sooner, My Mom is the
supervisor at the Family planning unit at the County Health
Department, As some of you probably know, I called her and While we
were talking one of the main doctors came into her office Debbie , I
spoke to her over the phone and explained everything that happened
yestersay, she said the reason he used the speculim was to beable to
see my cervix , when I coughed if there was any leakage he would be
able to see the leakage only when I coughed it would I guess dripple
out somewhat, That there is a chance that he may of took some
pressure off with the speculim, and may of pushed her up some, but
with the cervix , vaginal wall, and the bag the baby is well
protected from any damage, That there could be some type of chance it
could of stripped my membranes , but as long as I am feeling her move
every two hours 10 times or more then everything should be fine, Also
the way he checked me , she said that did seem odd, That is probably
why I am so sore down there from the checking and the speculim, It is
not very common for them wanting to do a vaginal exam this far into
to pregnancy , but it was done for water leakage so lil different , I
should maybe feel some pressure again in the next couple days again
from her head, But for right now she said it looks like I may have
some relief from the pressure,
I feel so much better now talking to her, I trust her opinon very
much, Just wish I was closer to Ocala for her to be my doctor.
So now we will just see what happens, right Hope so, as long as Lil
Ms. Shelby is ok, in there I'm ok.
