| I was hoping that someone was around the Traverse City area that could help me out. I recently moved here about 2 weeks ago and I am due quite soon. I am unfamiliar with the area and would like to learn a little bit before the little one comes. If anyone is from here, please help me! |

Congratulations on both your upcoming parenthood and moving to one of the most beautiful places in the world. I'm the marketing director at Traverse Magazine and our free www.destinationnorthernmichigan.com will give you all that you need to know at your finger tips. Where to go, where to eat, fun things to do with kids, etc. Also NorthernhomeandCottage.com gives you free online access to our home magazine. Of course, I think its a good idea to subscribe to the magazine--it is my job, after all :+)--and even if I was't working here, the magazine is a great resource. If you happen to be near Suttons Bay, Northport or Leland, there's a great resource for parents called the "Way to Grow" program. It's free. There are weekly playgroups, clothing exchanges. And frankly the best advice on which doctors, clothing stores, places to go when if rains comes from these terrific parents. Allison Manning at the Suttons Bay school can get you on the mailing list. 271-8601 is the main number for elementary. When we just moved here 3 years ago with our little one, this group really helped us get connected. |
