Are boys really slower than grils at learning things????
Watching a baby story on T.V the other day a couple mentioned that boys were slower than girls at learning things. What age do most boys learn to crawl, walk, talk,ect...? My son Malik is 7 months and getting up on all fourd rocking back and forth a whole lot. Thinking about crawling I think,he already rolls all over the place, he did a semi army crawl a couple of times today.I can't belive how much he has changed it's like I just had him yesterday.O another thing I was in Walmart today and someone asked me how od my son was then as they were walking away I heard her say my son is two months old and already that big should I worry?? Let me know what you think.

My son did the same 'rocking back and forth' thing for awhile and also scooting around. He started crawling at 8 months. Something I've learned is...don't listen to other people's comments at Wal-Mart, etc. Listen to your pediatrician-he would tell you if you should be worried about your son's weight. All babies are different and grow at their own pace. I have also heard that boys are slower to learn than girls, mostly told this by teachers. They say that if the boy has a late summer or early fall birthday, usually they wait an extra year before starting Kindergarten. My son was born in June and I hope he doesn't have to wait 'till he's 6, but we'll see. So far, he seems to be right on schedule for learning. He's 11 months and cruising all day long. He'll stand without holding on for 10 sec or so, but no steps yet. Hope this helps! Just remember that all babies are different.

I have seen that boys and girls learn different skills at different speeds. My daughter walked with out any assistance at 10 months, but my friends son walked at about 14 months but could catch a ball and pull himself up onto things before she could. Now he's two and a half and she's almost two and they seem to be very similar in skills; although he's more sports coordinated and she more verbal. Oh yeah, don't listen to others comparisons you'll drive yourself crazy. My daughter is 35" tall and about 26lbs. just extremely tall and thin in comparison to other children her age. and is completely healthy and happy.

yes, do not compare! my son did not walk until almost 16months but once he did, off he went. he is 2and half and just now speaking where you can understand some of it. my husband has worried about each milestone because he listens to other parents. Believe me , there were times after he started walking that I would thing, and i was anxious for this?lol!!
And i get the opposite with my youngest, he is about 21lb at 8months and i hear, Boy he's a big one!! Just learn to laugh it off. I just say yes he is and give him a big kiss:)
