my daughter is 1 1/2 and since pretty much day 1 she's had problems. pre- natal they seen her kidneys were abnormal and after she was born the doctors said she'd def. have to undergo surgury but until she was 6 months old she'd have to be on antibiotics to prevent serious infection. shortly after taking the anitibiotics her skin started getting rashes and at that point the doctors diagnosed her with ezcema though some of our family say that they think that being on medicine at such a young age may have caused her skin problems. from what i have asked the doctors they say (it's heretitary, and they still dont know much about it.) im lost for words when it comes to this. all you can do as far as what doctors say is lotion lotion lotion that doesn't help much and steroid cream . in my opinion though steriod cream over a long period of time can't be good. so i've been digging around to find more natural ways. aloe helps heal and oatmeal helps with the itch but im still searching for the natural cure from the inside. if anyone has any suggestions please l would greatly welcome your story. thank you for listening.... Renee
hi Renee, don't know about the medicine possibly causing it. both of my boys have eczema. my 2yo has started out growing his for the most part. my 8mo has it bad on his face mostly and right now it is hard to control because he is rolling and teething, so he rubs against everything:)
basically i stick with Eucerin CREAM not lotion-it sticks better and absorbs and does not rub off so easily. we do use the hydrocortisone 0.5% during bad outbreaks but it can make the facial skin thin after longterm use. my dr had given Rx for my oldest but after reading all the brochure and it mentioned possible skin cancer, i decided that his face could just break out. the eucerin works for me if i put it on 2-3 times a day, but the kids just hate me rubbing it on.
don't know if this helps. have u tried surfing the net for any new products? my aunt gave me an article once with a mom and dr who produced a natural cream for eczema but i did not follow up on it. good luck!
One of my boys had eczema when he was a baby and we used bag balm on him. You can buy it at Wal-Mart and it comes in a green can that has a cow on it with some red flowers. I used it for his eczema and diaper rash and never had any problems since. Also, just a FYI farmers use it on cow tits to help them from cracking.
Good luck and hope you are able to find something that works for you.
