| What NOT to say to a Kansasan |
 Hi, Everyone.
I hope it's bright & sunny where you live. Hopefully, after Memorial Day, it will be here in Kansas as well. Last night, a friend of mine, Cierra, were instant messaging each other. We both live in Kansas. I live in Topeka, & she lives in Kansas City. In any event, one of the things we were talking about the annoying refers we get when people find out we are from Kansas.
Well, instead of complaining about it some more, I have decided to be a little more pro active about the situation. True, my blog can not reach everyone, but I'm in hopes it will reach enough people that it might make a small difference. I figure it's worth a try. So, this is for me & all the other Kansasans out there.
I am talking about the refers made from the movie, "Wizard of Oz". Now, please don't misunderstand me. I love the movie, but the comments can get really old after awhile. So, PLEASE, avoid the following comments.
"I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Toto." This one is the one I hear the most.
Any comment about the yellow brick road. To my knowledge, we don't have one.
"Where's Toto?" Another common one. BTW, Cierra will tell he's next door b/c her neighbors named their dog Toto.
"Where's your ruby slippers?" BTW, if you ever read the orignial story, the slippers were silver, but MGM decided to make them ruby for the movie. This was done b/c the slippers would not show up very well on flim during the black & white scenes of the movie.(Sorry, had to throw that one in there.)
Saying something to the affect about clicking your heels 3 times, & saying "There's no place like home." It's true that there is no place like home. However, while out of state in a place I hate (Bedford, IN), I tried this out of desperation & it did not work, okay! So, please don't ask us to do so.
Well, I can't think of any other references at the moment, but I'm sure you all get the general idea. ;-)
