threat at school
Hi, My 12 year old son told me about this kid that is an easy target for bullys. He sits with my son and his friends for lunch but they don't talk much. They all constantly tease each other in a somewhat crude manner, but that's they way they communicate with each other and nobody takes it seriously, except this boy who started crying when they teased him (just like they tease each other in an attempt to draw this boy in) anyway, this boy started crying and said: you will all be sorry, I will bring a gun aand shoot you all. Now I do not want to blow this out of proportion and I am glad, that my son (at this age...) trusts me enough to talk to me, but I am really wondering what (if anything) I should do about it. Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Sorry about the long post..

Hi b,

I thought a while about your post, especially in light of past events where these threats have materialized into tragedies.

I would involve the teachers and have them explain the bullies and the bullied that their attitudes are unacceptable. If the teachers do not seem to have a handle on the situation, involve the parents.

School is a place of learning and every student is entitled to have enough piece of mind to be able to reach this objective.
