Hi Stacey,
My name is Hiedi my daughter had cradle cap pretty bad too she never really fully grew out of it. Up until a little while ago she had really bad dandruff then I started using a really great baby line on her. I was attracted to it because she has eczema as well and this product is botanically based and hypoallergenic. Her skin has never looked better and her dandruff has cleared up quit a bit as well. Let me know if you want to know more about it.

hey, I used baby oil on my daughters hair I would let it soak and get a fine comb and just comb off the dry skin. The baby oil brings it up real good. I did it every other day for about a week and it went away. |

I used Olive Oil as well, I was told by the pedi at the hospital to actually rub it into her skin instead of any other cream (which I didn't). But it worked well for her cradle cap. I also would lay with her when she was sleeping (Love that!) and pick at it gently to get it out...It took a couple of weeks to get all out.
also heard they make special shampoos for it if the oil doesn't work. |

Yea my son also had it really bad and I would put baby oil in his hair an hour before bathtime and use a soft brush when I put the baby oil to get the babyoil on his scalp and also loosen the scabs and I did that every day and even about a week after the cradle cap was gone and I havent had a probem since. You can also brush the babies hair a couple times a day it stimulates circulation and also helps loosen the scabs. You can also call your pediatricians for suggestions if these ideas dont work for you. |

Use baby oil, leave it for a few minutes and then brush very gently the dandruff off, try to do this once or twice a week. She probably doesnt have enough of the natural oil on her hair and thats why its get dry and thats what happend. |

My pediatrician also suggested Dandruff shampoo...but being careful not to get it into her eyes...any suggestions on which would be a good brand? I did hear of that special cradel cap shampoo, but it flys off the shelves at our local store. |

Stacy, your pediatrician is right. Any brand will do just tilt the head back so it dosn't get in babies eyes and massage it in really good for a few minutes. |

My son had cradle cap a little bit and my friend told me to shampoo his hair and while the shampoo was still in his hair to take a soft bristle brush and comb his hsir front and back and in a couple of days to a week it was all done. So try that to see if that works. |

My daughter had it pretty bad until she was about 6 months old. We just used a soft bristled toothbrush in the bathtub and that seemed to help a little bit. I think your child might just have to outgrow it, that is what our pediatrician told us. Also, be careful when picking at the flakes on her head, they can scar. A friend of mine picked off the skin when her daughter had cradle cap, and now there are a bunch of little scars on her head. Good luck! |

i gently flaked my sons off and he now has a big bald strip going from his bangs back to the crown of his head, but only on the right side. he was born with a full head of hair! while flaking it off, though, the hairs were coming out a little, and then i stopped and left it alone...he still had alot of hair there at this point. it has been a week and his hair now has that strip and if you comb it or run your fingers through it, about 10 more strands come out every time !!! according to the doctor, this is normal in infants. i am worried though and i don't know if i believe that it is normal, has anyone experienced hair loss in thier infants' like this? PLEASE HELP!!!!!! |

olive oil or vegetable oil. I was told by the hospital where I had my daughter they were better for the baby than baby oil b/c they are more natural. |

Try a diluted mixture of olive oil and a few drops of a good Pharmaceutical grade tea tree oil (T36-C5). Apply to the affected area, leave it on for several minutes, before shampooing with a good, natural baby shampoo. Try to find one of those hand and nail scrubbing brushes that doctors and nurses use to scrub in for surgery. I have used that on all my babies when they were born, up until their hair was too thick...and none of mine have experienced cradle cap.
Some baby shampoos could be contributing to the cause or making it worse...they can have a drying/stripping effect to your childs skin and hair. You would be amazed to find what manufacturers of home and personal products are allowed to put into their products, and still be able to market them to us.

My baby has it on his head and forehead, and side of his face. My pediatrician subscribed sebulax (spelling?), which is like a Head and Shoulders shampoo, to use once per week only. I also have a soft toothbrush. A friend said not to use vegetable oil since it gets hot on the skin. |

I always used olive oil on my son's head...every night after a bath. You let it soak in overnight and it will totally get rid of it...and also prevent it from returning. |
