I was wondering...my 12 month old does not really have a favorite toy or lovey. Do all children eventually cling to something like a stuffed toy or blanket? And if they do, at around what age does it become apparent? |

Hi mark, My daughter is the same age as your son and does not have a favorite toy or lovey. I just figure she is secure and doesnt need one. She does still use the binky for naps and sleeping. I usually take it out of her mouth when she falls asleep and leave it in the crib if she wakes up. |

Maddie is 18 months and doesn't have anything really special. She has toys she plays with more than others, but not like she has to take it places or anything. Maybe not all kids have something like that. |

My daughter is 20 months and doent have a lovey. she uses her passy at naps and bedtimes still. But I really wouldnt consider that to be a lovey to her. I think it just depends on the child. |

Mark. I use to think my daughter was the same. She is just about to turn 1 and about a month ago she grew attached to a blanket that she snuggles with for bed time. That is one of the signs for us to know that she is sleepy she will look for it. However she doesn't taje it everywhere except for bed. hope this helps. |

Very interesting. I don't know why I just assumed all kids get to a point where they want a special soft toy or blanket. I like the comment about him being secure enough not to need one. That made me feel really good. I must admit I have had some issues with myself thinking I wasn't doing enough for my son, or with him. He's a happy fella most of the time. Me and his mommy really love him and I'm very gald I've had the opportunity to be a SAHD. I just want to be assured I'm doing a good job for him. :-) |

Mark I think that is fantastic that you are a sahd. That is very uncommon. I know my husband realizes that it is a lot of work and he appreciates it. However, you are achieving such a bond with your baby that will never be broken. I don't ever do the chats as I am not sure when I will have enough time. At night I usually dedicate my time to finishing school work, and during the day I am play wonder woman. lol. I think comfort toys or loveys as you called them are just that for comfort. Also just think of it as something you wont have to break your child from as they get older. It may not always be as easy as it was for you and your wife to take his pacifier away. |

Hi, Mark, my daighter is 18 months and doesn't have a lovey either, she is a very happy baby. She does suck her thumb for comfort when she goes to sleep, as long as your son is happy, you are doing a great job! I wonder to why noone is ever in the chat, maybe we can schedule a time off day to set something up, such as nap time! |
